Graminia Swing'n Band Society
Band Options at Graminia
Grade 6 students at Graminia have a Band! Thanks to the fundraising efforts of the Graminia Swing'n Band Society (GSBS) over the past 25 years, enough instruments have been purchased (and donated to the school) to provide each Grade 6 student the opportunity to learn to play a real instrument. Instrument repair & cleaning costs and Jumpstart for the Grade 6 Band totaled $4668.46 for the 2017-2018 school year. These costs were covered entirely by the fundraising efforts of the Society. In cooperation with the Graminia School administration and music program directors, the Graminia Swing'n Band Society has in recent years, begun allocating funds in support of the Grade 6 band as well their mandated priority of the Junior High band program.
Grade 7-9 students continue to have the opportunity to choose band as a complementary course option. This program is supported by the mandate of the Graminia Swing'n Band Society which is to raise money to supplement the goals and activities of the band program at the junior high level that have been sanctioned by the school.
